What does car AC repair cost in Dubai?

A recharge costs less than replacing a failed component. Use these estimates to plan, then get a quote for your car, refrigerant type and confirmed fault.

Start with a free AC inspection

Any chargeable testing, dismantling or repair is explained before approval. A free inspection does not include replacement parts or refrigerant.

Share your model, year and symptoms. We will confirm the work, parts option, warranty and total before you decide.

R134a AC service and rechargeFor a system suitable for recharge. Refrigerant quantity and the cause of low charge must be checked.
250–350AED estimate
R1234yf rechargeA different refrigerant with a different cost. Confirm the under-hood label, required quantity and availability.
From 350AED estimate
Compressor replacementA planning range for common passenger cars. Compressor specification, parts grade and system contamination affect the total.
1,700–3,300AED estimate
Condenser replacementParts and fitting depend on the vehicle and access. Damaged pipes, dryer work and refrigerant can change the quote.
From 800AED estimate
Evaporator replacementAccess is the major variable. Dashboard removal, seals and recharging must be included in the vehicle-specific quote.
From 1,200AED estimate

Price basis: planning estimates per vehicle, before 5% VAT, not fixed packages. Replacement estimates allow for common parts and fitting; the written quote confirms the exact parts, labor, refrigerant, testing and any additional work. Luxury models, rear AC systems and electric compressors can cost more. No extra work proceeds without approval.

Start with what you notice

What is your AC doing?

You do not need to know which part has failed. Choose the closest symptom to see what needs checking.

Air moves, but it is not cold

Why the air stays warm

Low refrigerant is one possibility. Compressor control, pressure sensors, condenser airflow and temperature doors can also affect cooling.

The useful next step

Check vent temperature, refrigerant pressures and compressor operation together. If the charge is low, investigate why before deciding whether a recharge is enough.

Arrange an AC inspection
Better while driving

Cooling fades when the car stops.

Cooling that improves at road speed can point toward poor heat rejection at the condenser. Fan operation is an important check, alongside refrigerant charge and compressor performance.

Tell us when it happens

Does it start at traffic lights, after a long drive or only on very hot afternoons? We need to reproduce the symptom at idle and compare the operating readings.

Describe the traffic-related fault
Very little air from the vents

Weak airflow is different from warm airflow.

A restricted cabin filter, blower fault, speed-control issue or air-distribution problem can reduce the air reaching you. Adding gas does not remove an airflow restriction.

Start on the air side

Check whether all fan speeds work and whether the problem affects every vent. The inspection can then focus on the cabin filter, blower and distribution controls.

See airflow and electrical repairs
A refill helped only briefly

Repeated gas loss needs leak tracing.

If cooling fades soon after a recharge, another top-up can leave the underlying fault unresolved. Leaks may occur at seals, service valves, pipes or heat exchangers.

Bring the previous repair details

Tell us when the system was last recharged and how long the improvement lasted. A temperature or electrical fault can also be intermittent, so the symptom alone is not a diagnosis.

Understand leak repair and recharge
Different temperatures left and right

Uneven cooling needs a climate-control check.

Start by matching both temperature settings. If one side stays warm, investigate temperature doors, actuators, sensor readings and cooling performance before ordering parts.

Useful details for the technician

Say which vents are affected, whether the rear AC behaves differently and whether you hear clicking behind the dashboard. These details help narrow the inspection.

Ask about climate-control diagnosis
An odor when the fan starts

Find the moisture or contamination source.

A dirty cabin filter, evaporator contamination or drainage issue can contribute to a musty smell. A fragrance alone will not resolve the cause.

Find the cause before cleaning

Check the filter, drain and accessible air path before choosing cleaning or disinfection. A sweet smell, wet carpet or burning odor needs a different investigation.

See cleaning and filter options

These are possible causes, not a remote diagnosis. Grinding, smoke, a burning smell or an engine-temperature warning needs prompt attention. Switch off the AC; stop safely if the engine is overheating or you see smoke, and call for guidance.

Choose the right repair

A refill, a repair or a replacement?

A recharge restores the specified refrigerant charge. It does not repair a leak, a failed compressor or a blocked air path. The useful question is what has stopped the system removing heat from the cabin.

A leaking seal, faulty control and damaged compressor need different work. We explain whether the fault can be repaired at the component level or whether replacement is necessary, including any related work needed to protect the replacement part.

The four main stages of the car AC refrigerant circuitThe compressor sends refrigerant to the condenser, then through the expansion device to the evaporator, before returning to the compressor. The condenser releases heat outside; the evaporator absorbs cabin heat. 1. Compressor2. Condenser3. Expansion device4. EvaporatorHeat leaves outside.Cool air reaches the cabin.
The main cooling loop, simplified. Fans, controls, sensors and the air path also affect what you feel at the vents.

Leak repair and gas recharge

Trace the loss, repair the confirmed leak and recharge to the vehicle specification. Condenser, evaporator, hose and seal faults require different access and repair work. Repeatedly topping up a leaking system is not a lasting repair.

Compressor repair or replacement

A control or electrical fault may be repairable without replacing an otherwise serviceable compressor; not every compressor has a conventional clutch. Internal damage can spread debris through the refrigerant circuit. The repair must account for the manufacturer’s cleaning and replacement requirements, because fitting a new compressor into a contaminated circuit can damage it again.

Blower and climate-control repairs

Investigate missing fan speeds, weak airflow, clicking actuators and uneven cabin temperatures. Testing can identify a blower, control module, sensor or air-door fault without assuming the whole AC system needs replacement.

Cabin filter and AC cleaning

Inspect the filter condition, drainage and accessible air path. Replace the filter or carry out suitable cleaning when needed. Cleaning can address contamination; it cannot restore a failed compressor or repair a refrigerant leak.

Condenser leaks and heat rejection

The condenser releases heat outside the cabin, usually at the front of the car. A refrigerant leak, restricted airflow and a failed cooling fan need different repairs. Internal contamination is a separate concern: some fine-passage condenser designs cannot be flushed clean and require replacement. The vehicle and component instructions determine the work.

Evaporator leaks and access

The evaporator absorbs heat from cabin air. Its location can make replacement more labour-intensive than a visible pipe or seal repair, sometimes requiring dashboard removal. The quotation should identify access, seals, refrigerant and any related work. A musty smell alone does not establish that the evaporator leaks or needs replacing.

Refrigerant and oil must match the car. R134a and R1234yf are not interchangeable. The system label and vehicle specification determine the refrigerant, charge weight and compressor oil. For a hybrid or EV, share the exact model first so the team can confirm which work it can undertake and the equipment required. Electrically driven compressors can require a specific insulating oil; an ordinary compressor service is not interchangeable.
From complaint to cooling

What happens at your visit

The visit should identify the cause, explain the required work and check the original cooling complaint after repair.

  1. Explain the symptom

Tell us when cooling changes, whether airflow is strong and what has already been repaired. We inspect the car and agree on any further testing.

  2. Check the system

The technician selects pressure and temperature checks, leak tracing, physical inspection and appropriate diagnostic readings according to the complaint.

  3. Approve the quote

Review the finding, recommended repair, available parts options, total price and warranty terms. Work starts after your approval.

  4. Repair and retest

The repaired system is checked for cooling and correct operation. Ask the team to explain the completed work and any remaining recommendations.

How long should I allow?

An uncomplicated recharge commonly takes around 30–60 minutes after diagnosis. Leak tracing and component replacement take longer. Dashboard access for an evaporator or parts ordering may require leaving the car. Confirm the inspection slot and completion estimate when booking.

Al Quoz workshop

A clear diagnosis before a big repair bill.

My Car Repair Dubai handles AC, mechanical and electrical faults at its independent Al Quoz garage. That matters when the cooling complaint involves a fan, wiring, sensor or engine-cooling issue as well as the AC circuit.

Check the cooling under the right conditions

A brief burst of cold air does not establish that an intermittent fault is fixed. Completion checks should address the original complaint, such as cooling at idle, different vent temperatures or airflow that fades. The relevant settings and operating conditions matter when comparing the result.

Car AC repair questions

Does my car AC just need a gas refill?

Possibly, but low cooling does not prove low refrigerant. A recharge is appropriate only after the system has been checked and the required charge confirmed. Rapid loss after a recent refill needs leak investigation; weak airflow or a control fault needs a different repair.

Is the AC inspection really free?

Yes. My Car Repair Dubai offers a free AC inspection. Any chargeable specialist testing, dismantling, refrigerant or repair work is explained and quoted separately before approval.

Can an AC compressor be repaired instead of replaced?

Sometimes. An external control or electrical fault, or a clutch fault where that type is fitted, may need different work from internal compressor damage. The compressor type, test results, available parts and condition of the rest of the system determine whether repair or replacement makes sense.

Why is my AC cold while driving but warm at idle?

Reduced condenser airflow is one possible cause, particularly if a cooling fan is not operating correctly. Refrigerant charge and compressor performance also need checking. Describe when it happens so the technician can test the car under the same conditions.

Can you finish the AC repair the same day?

A straightforward recharge or accessible repair may be completed in the same visit, depending on the diagnosis, parts and workshop schedule. Evaporator access, complex leaks or parts ordering can take longer. The team confirms the completion estimate after assessing the car.

Will an AC recharge fix a bad smell or weak airflow?

Usually those symptoms need an air-side inspection first. A dirty cabin filter, blower problem, contamination or drain fault can require filter replacement, electrical repair or cleaning. Refrigerant does not clean the air path or increase a faulty blower’s output.

Do you repair AC systems on European and Japanese cars?

The workshop services major makes, including European, Japanese and American vehicles. Share the exact model and year to confirm the AC specification and parts availability. For a hybrid or EV, confirm which repairs the team can undertake on the exact model before bringing the car.

How often should I service my car AC in Dubai?

Follow the vehicle’s maintenance schedule and check the cabin filter for the conditions you drive in. Arrange an inspection when cooling, airflow, noise or odor changes. A fixed annual gas refill is not a substitute for finding a leak or another fault.
