Citroën engine and gearbox repairs
A dashboard message can sound expensive before anyone has opened the hood. A scan helps narrow the investigation. It doesn’t prove that the sensor, turbo or gearbox named in a code needs replacing.
We start with the message, when it appears and how the car behaves. That can lead to ignition and fuel checks for a misfire, leak and pressure tests for coolant loss, or checks of the oil system and timing drive where the findings call for them.
For approved engine repairs, the estimate explains the faulty parts, related work and checks needed before the car is returned. A small external leak and internal engine wear should never be quoted as if they were the same repair.
Coolant loss or overheating
Repeated topping up is a reason to find the leak. Hoses, the radiator, thermostat housing, water pump and fan operation may need checking. Head gasket work only makes sense when the tests support it. An overheating engine should be stopped safely, not driven in for a quick look.
Hesitation or a harsh gear change
Describe whether it happens cold, after traffic, in reverse or under acceleration. Engine running, mounts, fluid condition and transmission faults can feel similar from the driver’s seat. We identify the gearbox and investigate the complaint before recommending gearbox repair or rebuilding.
A manual gearbox, automated manual and conventional automatic have different clutch, fluid and control arrangements. Confirm the fitted unit before approving a service or comparing a repair quote. A conventional automatic rebuild allowance does not apply to every transmission.
A seal, wiring fault or suitable internal component may be repaired without replacing the whole assembly. The condition of the rest of the unit still matters.
A rebuild or compatible replacement may be more sensible when damage is extensive. Compare parts condition, lead time and warranty terms in the written quote.
Citroën AC and electrical repairs
“It cools on the highway, then warms up at the lights.” That detail is useful. So is knowing whether a starting problem began after a flat battery. Tell us the sequence, not just the latest warning.
AC performance needs more than a refill
We check the complaint against vent temperature, refrigerant charge, leaks, condenser airflow and compressor control as needed. Weak airflow may need a different repair from air that blows strongly but stays warm.

Citroën brakes and suspension
A knock over a speed bump can make the whole front end feel worn out. The repair may be much more specific. Links, bushings, mounts, ball joints, dampers and tires need checking against the noise and handling complaint.
We explain which parts are worn and why replacement is needed. Alignment belongs in the estimate when the work or measurements call for it. It won’t cure a loose joint.
Brake vibration, grinding or a change in pedal feel needs its own checks. Pad and disc condition, caliper movement and relevant ABS faults help determine the right brake repair. Reduced braking is a reason to stop and arrange help.
C5 Aircross and hydraulic cushions
Progressive Hydraulic Cushions use hydraulic stops within the suspension design on applicable models. Order the correct replacement damper for the VIN. The name alone does not mean the vehicle has the older height-adjustable Hydractive system. Citroën describes the system on its UAE comfort page.
Older C5 with Hydractive

Which Citroën do you drive?
A badge is a starting point. The year, engine, gearbox and market specification decide which parts fit and which maintenance schedule applies.

- C3 and C3 Aircross
- Engine type and generation come first for timing work, oil selection and transmission concerns. A PureTech description alone is not enough to choose a belt kit or assume the cause of a warning.
- C4 and C4 Cactus
- Send the year and exact version for AC, electrical, brake and suspension work. Gasoline, diesel and electric variants need different checks. C4 Cactus suspension equipment also varies with the version.
- C5 and C5 Aircross
- These names do not identify one suspension system or gearbox. For a rough ride or gear change concern, tell us which vehicle you have before comparing replacement parts.
- Berlingo and Picasso models
- Tell us the engine, passenger or commercial version and how the vehicle is used. Maintenance, clutch work and a diesel emissions concern need separate estimates, even when the model name matches.
Citroën maintenance and service choices
There isn’t one oil specification or service interval for every Citroën. Bring the last invoice if you have it. We compare the recorded work with the schedule for your engine and use, then explain what is due.

How much does Citroën repair cost in Dubai?

What is included in the free assessment?
The initial visual assessment is free. A scan and agreed targeted diagnosis cost AED 150 to 350 including 5% VAT. Extended tests, dismantling and repairs are separate and agreed first. A visual check alone cannot confirm an internal engine or gearbox fault.
Does every Citroën PureTech engine need a wet belt replacement?
No. The engine generation, timing system, condition and applicable maintenance schedule matter. Citroën has documented belt degradation and oil consumption concerns on certain earlier 1.0 and 1.2 PureTech engines. We identify your engine before proposing work. An oil pressure warning needs immediate attention, not just a routine belt booking.
Can I drive with the STOP warning on?
Stop as soon as it is safe and switch off the engine. A STOP warning can accompany a serious engine, braking, steering, gearbox or electrical fault. Call for advice and discuss recovery instead of continuing to the workshop. Tell us the accompanying message once you are safely parked.
Can you work on older C5 hydraulic suspension?
Tell us the model year, system fitted and the problem before arranging the visit. Certain older C5 models have Hydractive suspension, which differs from C5 Aircross Progressive Hydraulic Cushions. We confirm the required support and parts availability for hydraulic work before accepting the job. A standard shock absorber price is not a quote for that system.
Do you service imported diesel, hybrid or electric Citroën models?
Send the exact model and requested work first. An imported BlueHDi diesel, a plug-in hybrid and an ë-C4 need different support. High-voltage battery, charging, restricted software and factory campaign work need capability and coverage checks before booking. We will confirm what we can undertake and when the authorized network is the appropriate next contact.
What does an AdBlue countdown mean on a diesel Citroën?
On applicable BlueHDi models, an AdBlue level warning or a confirmed SCR emissions fault can lead to a restart restriction. The message determines the next check. Arrange assessment before the countdown reaches zero. Adding fluid does not repair every SCR fault, and this advice does not apply to gasoline models.
Will you use genuine Citroën parts?
We can discuss available genuine parts and suitable alternatives for the confirmed part number. The quote should identify the brand, new or used condition, expected supply time and warranty terms. A cheaper part is useful only if it fits correctly and is appropriate for the repair. Stock and delivery depend on the specific item.
How long will the repair take and can you collect the car?
The expected time depends on diagnosis, approval, parts availability and final checks. Ask for the likely workshop time and any parts lead time separately. Pickup and drop-off depend on your location and availability. If the car will not start or is unsafe to drive, tell us so suitable recovery can be discussed.
Should I check a warranty or recall before paying for repairs?
Yes. If the concern may be covered, ask the warranty provider or authorized Citroën network to check your VIN before approving outside work.
