Models and generations
Which Land Rover do you own?
The same family name can cover different engines, suspension and four-wheel-drive hardware. Knowing the generation helps us identify the right parts and repair.
Discovery
Earlier and current generations
Discovery 1 and 2
Older vehicles are booked by engine, condition and modifications. Discovery 2 can have coil springs or rear self-levelling air suspension; optional Active Cornering Enhancement is a separate system.
Discovery 3 / LR3 and Discovery 4 / LR4
Check air or coil suspension and the fitted transfer case. Engine and automatic-gearbox combinations changed over their production years; low range is not universal across every derivative.
Discovery 5 and later updates
Four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines bring different service quantities and access. Later six-cylinder versions include 48V mild-hybrid equipment, adding a separate electrical consideration.
Defender
90 · 110 · 130
Original Defender
Age, engine, chassis condition and modifications guide the job. Share any suspension lift, wheel changes or engine conversion before booking.
Modern Defender
Independent suspension, newer driveline controls and different electrical systems require the correct generation’s parts and procedures. Coil, air, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are identified before pricing.
Unusual specifications and specialist chassis work are confirmed individually.
Discovery Sport
Distinct from full-size Discovery
Petrol, diesel and electrified versions differ. The P300e plug-in hybrid uses an electric rear axle, so rear-drive and charging concerns are handled differently from conventional AWD repairs.
Freelander
Freelander 1 · Freelander 2 / LR2
Identify the engine and manual or automatic transmission before comparing prices. Imported Freelander 2 eD4 versions can be front-wheel drive; a family badge alone does not establish the drivetrain.
Range Rover owners
For Range Rover, Sport, Velar and Evoque, use our Range Rover repair page. Its generation and fitted equipment are more useful for parts identification than a trim badge alone.
Choose the work you need
You can book a defined service or bring a concern that needs investigation. Related jobs can be planned together once their condition is understood.
01
Service or check the vehicle
Oil, filters, plugs and scheduled fluids, vehicle-health checks and pre-purchase inspections. Useful when maintenance is due or the history is incomplete.
Engine, cooling, automatic or manual gearbox, 4WD, suspension, brakes and steering. Targeted diagnosis is available for warning messages and intermittent faults.
These are our published general workshop estimates, not fixed Land Rover tariffs. All amounts shown include 5% VAT; the vehicle and agreed parts determine the confirmed total.
Scheduled care
Oil and filter service
AED 350–600
Agreed oil, filter, labour and checks. Guide for many 6–8 litre fills or higher-cost approvals; larger quantities and specialist supplies can exceed it.
Higher-capacity coolant service
AED 400–800
Specified coolant, labour, agreed flushing and refilling, bleeding and checks. Leak diagnosis, replacement parts and contamination treatment are separate.
Automatic oil, filter or pan service
AED 945–1,890
Compatible fluid, agreed pan or filter kit and fitting. High capacity, specialist fluid or complex access can exceed the range; diagnosis and repairs are separate.
One axle’s pad set and fitting. Sensors and hardware are separately confirmed; specialised braking systems may cost more.

Engine rebuild
AED 14,500–39,000
General guide for stripping, machining and rebuilding with new internal parts. The engine and reusable components determine the final work.
What your written estimate confirms
The parts brand and quantity, fitting, required fluids and setup, and any separate investigation. An oil service is different from a major service; a component repair is different from a complete overhaul.
Initial visual assessment is free. A scan or targeted diagnosis is AED 150–350 including VAT. We agree the initial checks and charge, explain the findings and obtain your agreement before additional testing increases the bill. Bodywork, AC and other jobs are quoted for the requirement.
A low corner, a knock over bumps and an unstable ride can involve different parts. The repair should restore the fitted system and include the setup it needs.
An air spring and a damper do different jobs
The spring supports the vehicle; the damper controls movement. Some assemblies combine them. This affects what is replaced and explains why two apparently similar quotations can cover different parts.
A
Air leaks and ride-height faults
Air springs, lines, valves, height sensors and the compressor are checked according to the concern. A leak can keep the compressor working too often. Replacing the failed component and correcting the cause protects the repair; required leak checks and height setup complete the job.
B
Coil springs, dampers and bushes
A worn bush or joint may be separately serviceable, or supplied in a complete arm. Damper work considers the matching axle pair, mounts and related wear. A broken coil spring needs its own repair; replacing a damper will not restore its support.
C
Steering play and wheel bearings
Loose joints, damaged boots, worn bearings and steering faults can affect control as well as noise. Mechanical play is repaired before final wheel alignment. Electronic or active chassis equipment requires the compatible parts and applicable setup.
Braking
Pad, disc, caliper and fluid work is quoted by the affected axle and brake specification. Parking-brake faults and ABS, stability-control or hill-descent warnings need the relevant mechanical and electrical checks.
Wheels and tyres
Inspect tyre condition, pressure, size and load rating alongside a vibration or pull. Wheel damage and balancing are considered before wheel alignment; replacement tyres must also suit the fitted drivetrain.
Before returning to the road
Check the repair, ride height, wheel geometry and warning status as applicable. A safe road test can confirm the reported concern. Call for suitable recovery if the vehicle has dropped severely or handling is unsafe.
Gearbox and four-wheel-drive repairs
Gear selection, vibration and a 4WD warning are investigated where they occur. The gearbox, transfer case, coupling and differentials are separate possible repairs.
The fitted system
Repair choices
What the estimate should include
Automatic transmission
Due oil/filter service, external leak repair, a targeted hydraulic or electrical component repair, or internal overhaul after diagnosis.
Correct fluid, quantity and service kit. LR4 six- and eight-speed units differ from Discovery Sport’s nine-speed applications; the exact gearbox determines parts and procedures.
Manual gearbox and clutch
Clutch, release mechanism, flywheel or gearbox work according to the confirmed fault and component condition.
Which clutch parts are supplied, whether the flywheel is replaced, and the required seals, fluid and fitting.
Transfer case, AWD coupling and differentials
Leak, bearing, actuator or internal repair as applicable. Terrain Response identifies a control function, not one universal drivetrain.
The exact unit, fluid and related setup. Low-range equipment and locking differentials depend on the vehicle.
Propshafts and driveshafts
Joint, support, boot or shaft repair/replacement where serviceable. Wheel and tyre causes remain part of vibration checks.
Whether an individual component or complete assembly is required, and checks of related mountings.
Petrol and diesel engines
Engine, cooling and fuel-system repairs
Cooling leaks, oil loss and reduced power deserve a repair based on the engine’s condition. The same symptom can lead to a modest component job or a larger mechanical decision.
Leaks and overheating
Leaks are traced to the affected seal, gasket, housing or cooling connection. Cooling work may involve a hose, reservoir, radiator, thermostat, water pump or fan. Pressure and operating checks help identify the fault and verify the circuit after repair, filling and bleeding.
Rough running and lost power
Petrol ignition coils and plugs, fuelling, injector operation, fuel pressure and air or boost leaks are investigated as relevant. A Discovery 4’s earlier 5.0 petrol V8, 3.0 supercharged V6 and imported V6 diesel require different parts. Charge-air, turbo or supercharger concerns follow the fitted engine.
Discovery Sport’s earlier diesel and later 2.0 Ingenium applications also differ. DPF, EGR and SCR/AdBlue equipment is identified where fitted; an emissions warning is investigated before cleaning or replacing components.
Timing and internal condition
Engine-specific belt servicing differs from investigating a timing-area noise or fault. Compression, leak-down or other mechanical tests may be needed before opening an engine. They help establish whether a cylinder-head repair or more extensive work is justified.
Testing is chosen for the concern
Fault codes and relevant live data
Cooling pressure and leak checks
Ignition, fuel or boost checks
Mechanical condition tests when needed
Further testing or dismantling is agreed before the job is extended.
Repair
A failed part or localised damage
Replace or repair the confirmed component, then check operation and for leaks as appropriate. This can include seals, timing parts, cooling components or cylinder-head work.
Rebuild
Internal wear in a reusable engine
Strip and inspect the engine, confirm reusable components and machining, then rebuild with the agreed internal parts. Findings after dismantling can change the quotation.
Replace
An alternative engine assembly
Compare new, remanufactured and used options by compatibility, included ancillaries, documented condition and warranty. Fitting and required setup belong in the total.
Stop safely for overheating, steam or a serious oil-pressure warning. Keep a hot coolant cap closed and call to arrange assistance.
Buying one or taking over its care
Buying a used Land Rover?
A pre-purchase inspection can help separate visible condition, repair needs and due maintenance before you commit. The agreed inspection can cover mechanical and electrical concerns, accessible underbody and body condition, signs of previous repairs, a scan and a road test with permission where safe. Written findings help distinguish safety priorities, unresolved faults and maintenance needs.
If you have already bought the vehicle, bring the inspection report and available invoices. We can identify urgent repairs, establish the work already completed and plan maintenance that is genuinely due. An inspection records the condition at the time; it cannot guarantee future reliability.
Maintenance matched to the engine and use
Follow the applicable schedule and service indicator, then account for how the vehicle is used. There is no single oil grade, timing interval or mileage package for every Land Rover.
Oil, filters and scheduled parts
Use the specified oil approval and quantity. Add plugs, air and cabin filters, brake fluid, belts or other scheduled items when due; a major service should name its replacements clearly.
Towing, dust and off-road use
Tell us about towing and recent rough-road, sand, mud or water exposure. Relevant checks can include underbody damage, leaks, brakes, tyres and contamination concerns. Service requirements follow the vehicle’s guidance and the findings.
Short journeys and diesel use
On DPF-equipped diesels, repeated short trips can interrupt regeneration. Follow the exact warning and handbook; persistent warnings need attention. Any regeneration or cleaning depends on the warning, its cause and the vehicle procedure.
Land Rover’s official servicing guidance explains the role of driving conditions and the applicable schedule. Keep the invoice showing the work completed and any follow-up advice.
Cabin comfort and everyday use
AC, electrical equipment and interior care
Weak cooling, a flat battery or a cabin water leak can make an otherwise sound vehicle difficult to use. Describe where and when the concern appears.
AC repairs for the affected zone
Tell us which vents or seating rows are affected. Weak airflow points toward filters, blowers or distribution controls; warm air with normal flow brings refrigerant operation and compressor control into the checks.
AC repairs can involve a pipe, condenser, compressor, evaporator, leak or control component. Refrigerant type and charge are taken from the vehicle. Rear AC and concealed components can add access work, which should be included before the repair begins.
12V
Starting, charging and accessories
Battery, alternator, starter and connection faults are checked as appropriate. If a battery repeatedly goes flat, charging performance and unwanted current draw deserve attention. Windows, locks, lighting, parking sensors and Pivi/InControl concerns are booked by the actual symptom, with software access confirmed when needed.
48V
Mild-hybrid equipment
The 48V system is separate from the ordinary 12V battery. Send the exact warning and powertrain details first so we can confirm the work and equipment required before booking.
PHEV
Plug-in charging and electric drive
Traction-battery, inverter, charger and electric-drive repairs require an individual specialist check before acceptance. Tell us whether a charging problem occurs at one charging point or several. A 12V battery estimate does not cover high-voltage components.
Paint, bodywork, glass and trim
Photos help start a discussion about visible damage. An inspection establishes access, hidden damage and the finish required.
Dents, panels and paint
A suitable minor dent may be repairable without paint; damaged paint or a deformed panel needs another method. Bumper, panel and paint work is assessed alongside brackets and concealed damage. Structural and restraint work needs a defined specialist arrangement.
Glass and water entry
Match glass to fitted cameras, sensors and equipment. Confirm any required calibration with the work. Locate water entry at seals, glazing or drainage before renewing wet carpets or stained linings.
Leather, seats and interior trim
Compare a local bolster, seam or trim repair with larger retrimming. Seat electrics and safety equipment are considered when planning removal and refitting.
Agree the parts, price and time
A useful quotation explains what is being supplied and how the job will be completed. Tell us the model, year, engine and concern; a VIN helps identify import specifications.
Parts choices you can compare
Genuine parts
Manufacturer-branded parts matched to the application. Availability and price are confirmed for the required item.
Original-equipment supplier
Identify the actual maker and compatible product. The label alone is not a guarantee that every part is identical to a manufacturer-branded one.
Quality aftermarket
A suitable alternative where fitment and function meet the repair requirements. Electronic and adaptive assemblies require particular care over compatibility.
How long will the vehicle be needed?
The answer follows the diagnosis, parts availability and access required. A defined service is easier to plan than an intermittent electrical fault, an engine strip-down or a repair requiring machining.
We explain the expected completion time with the estimate and discuss additional findings before extending the job. If replacement engines or gearboxes are being considered, the source, condition, included parts and setup should be clear.
Warranty and handover
Parts and labour warranty terms are confirmed for the selected work. At collection, the repaired concern is rechecked and relevant aftercare or remaining recommendations are explained.
Before your visit
Can you collect the vehicle?
Discuss pickup and return when booking, subject to availability and the vehicle’s condition. If it cannot be driven safely, suitable recovery is needed. Share its location and describe the fault before arrangements are made.
Can you quote from photographs or a warning message?
Photos can help price visible body, glass or trim damage, and a defined service may be quoted from the vehicle details. A warning message helps plan diagnosis; it rarely establishes the complete repair by itself.
