- A knock or clunk over speed bumps
- Possible causes include worn anti roll bar links, bushings, mounts or ball joints. The sound alone does not prove that every shock absorber needs replacing.
- Bouncing, floating or excessive body movement
- Inspect shock absorbers or struts, mounts and related components. Check tire condition and pressure too, because the ride is influenced by more than the suspension.
- Pulling or uneven tire wear
- Inspect tires, steering and suspension for wear or damage before assuming an alignment will solve it. Loose or worn parts need attention before final wheel geometry adjustment.
- One corner lower or the car sinking overnight
- Check springs and ride height. On an air suspension vehicle, testing may include air leaks, valve operation, compressor performance, sensors and fault codes.
