BAIC service and repair prices

Use these planning estimates to compare the work involved. Every figure includes parts, the stated labor and 5% VAT. They are not fixed offers. Your model, parts choice and the damage found determine the written total; initial fault diagnosis is separate unless included in that quote.

Engine oil and filter
AED 200–600
Per car. Specified engine oil, a new filter, labor and level checks. Quantity and oil approval affect the quote.
Brake pads on one axle
AED 250–500
A standard quality aftermarket pad set and fitting. Separate sensors, damaged discs and caliper repairs are extra.
Pads and discs on one axle
AED 650–2,500
Two new quality aftermarket discs, one pad set and fitting. Larger or less readily available BAIC brake parts may cost more.
Conventional 12V battery
AED 300–750
One new standard battery and basic fitting. AGM, unusual sizes, registration or a separate charging fault require a different quote.
Conventional shocks or struts
AED 1,000–3,200
Two matching new units on one axle, fitting and standard alignment when needed. Mounts, springs and modified suspension are separate.
AC compressor replacement and recharge
AED 2,200–4,500
Per car, for a straightforward R134a system repair. New compatible aftermarket compressor, required seals and oil, receiver-drier or desiccant replacement where required, fitting, evacuation, recharge and leak/cooling checks. R1234yf, extensive flushing or other contaminated components need a revised complete estimate.
Targeted gearbox component repair
AED 1,500–4,500
An identified repairable component fault, the named replacement part, fitting, necessary fluid top-up and applicable setup/checks. A full fluid service, clutch replacement or major internal damage is a different job.
Conventional automatic gearbox rebuild
AED 3,500–10,000+
Removal and refitting, agreed internal repair parts and seals, specified refill fluid, applicable replacement filter or strainer, setup and final checks. Hard-part damage or a failed torque converter can increase the total. CVT, DCT and replacement units need their own quote.
Head gasket repair
AED 2,900–7,800
Head removal, condition checking, gasket and required one-use fasteners, reassembly, oil/filter, coolant and leak/temperature checks. Machining, a cracked head, lower engine damage or repair of the original cooling fault is priced after assessment.

Planning ranges updated October 1, 2026, per stated job and including 5% VAT. Your estimate identifies the parts brand, included fluids, labor, checks and any additional work. Overlapping labor is counted once. Diagnosis is listed separately, together with any agreed credit toward the repair.

Model and drivetrain checks

Which BAIC are you driving?

An X55 in weekday traffic and a BJ40 used off-road can need very different checks. We identify the model, year, engine and transmission before selecting fluids or ordering parts. A vehicle identification number, or VIN, helps resolve unclear specifications.

X55 and X55 II

What matters: Regional X55 II versions use a 1.5 turbo engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Equipment varies by year and market.
What to tell us: Whether shudder happens cold, in slow traffic, in reverse or under acceleration. We separate gearbox behavior from engine hesitation, mounts and low-voltage warnings.

X35, X7 and U5 Plus

What matters: These models do not share one transmission or service specification. Some X35 versions have a CVT; an X55 DCT procedure is not interchangeable.
What we check: The engine, gearbox identification and relevant part number before quoting a fluid service, AC repair, oil leak or brake job.

BJ40, BJ40L and BJ40 C

What matters: Model year, 4WD equipment, lift kits and wheel changes affect the inspection and parts fitment.
What to tell us: A 4WD warning, clunk, vibration or recent off-road impact. Checks can include the transfer case, shafts, joints, bearings and suspension, as well as the gearbox.

BJ60 and BJ80

What matters: A BJ60 with a 48V mild-hybrid system has electrical components beyond the conventional 12V supply. BJ80 engine and brake applications also vary.
What we do: Identify the system and explain the available diagnostic or repair route. Manufacturer-only software or warranty work may need BAIC’s authorized network.

Older model or private import? Send the model and year, plus a badge or warning photo if useful. We will identify the specification and parts needed for an older BAIC, D20, BJ30 hybrid or imported electric variant. We may request the VIN if the specification remains unclear.

A warning light is a starting point

BAIC engine diagnosis and repair options

It’s frustrating to pay for a part and still have the same hesitation. A stored fault code helps direct the investigation; it doesn’t prove that the component named in the code needs replacing.

Hands operating a diagnostic scan tablet inside a vehicle
Diagnostic scan reference. Fault codes need to be checked against the symptom and test results.
  1. Reproduce the complaint

Does it hesitate only under load, shake at idle or lose power after warming up? That detail helps distinguish a combustion problem from a mount, transmission or electrical issue. Share any recent repair or refueling history.

  2. Test the likely cause

Scan data and relevant ignition, fuel, air-leak or boost checks narrow the fault. Oil pressure, compression or leak-down testing is added only when the symptoms justify it, with the extra work agreed first.

  3. Price the confirmed work

A hose, ignition component or external leak may be a contained repair. Evidence of overheating damage or internal wear changes the options. The estimate should say what failed and why the proposed work addresses it.

A targeted repair

Repair the verified leak, wiring fault or failed component when the surrounding system is sound. Replacing an entire engine or turbo is not the automatic next step after a warning light.

Internal engine work

Head gasket work, cylinder-head repair or a rebuild needs measurements and an agreed dismantling cost. Ask what you would owe if the inspection shows the repair is uneconomical and you decide to stop.

A replacement engine

Compare a compatible used, rebuilt or new unit against the repair. Engine code, supplied accessories, fitting, fluids, testing and written warranty terms belong in the total. A low parts-only price can be misleading.

Read more about engine repair and rebuild options, or call with the warning message and symptoms.

Stop safely for an oil-pressure warning, severe overheating or a sudden major loss of power. Switch off the engine when safe and call for advice about vehicle recovery. Do not open a hot coolant cap or keep driving to test whether the warning disappears.

Two different systems

BAIC AC and engine cooling repairs

Both are uncomfortable. They call for different checks, and repeated top-ups can leave the original fault unresolved.

Air conditioning that loses its cooling

Tell us whether the air is weak, warm at idle, cold on one side or noisy when the AC runs. Airflow, cabin filtration, refrigerant pressure, condenser airflow and the electrical controls help separate a ventilation problem from a refrigerant or compressor fault.

A recharge suits a system that is ready to hold the correct charge. If refrigerant has escaped, identify the leak and agree on its repair. The refrigerant type and quantity come from the vehicle label, not a blanket BAIC specification.

Our compressor guide includes the stated fitting, refrigerant and checks. The final estimate identifies the refrigerant type, dryer work and any contamination-related repairs before approval. See AC repair and replacement options.

Coolant loss or a rising temperature

A low reservoir doesn’t tell you where the coolant went. Inspection and appropriate pressure testing can identify an external leak; fan operation, thermostat behavior and circulation may need checking when temperature rises.

A leaking hose or connection may need a localized repair. A failed radiator, thermostat or water pump needs the identified component replaced, with the correct refill and temperature checks. Head gasket work is considered only when tests support it. A coolant flush does not repair a leak or a failed cooling component.

Mention whether the warning appeared in traffic, after a long run or following recent cooling-system work. If it is overheating now, call before driving to the workshop.

Shuddering does not settle the diagnosis

Gearbox and 4WD repairs

Describe what happens when selecting Drive or Reverse, pulling away and changing speed. A road test, where safe, and the correct system checks help decide whether the fault is in the transmission, engine, mounts or driveline.

Our advice
Before approving a replacement gearbox, ask which test shows that the existing unit cannot be repaired economically.

Loss of drive, severe slipping, grinding or a substantial fluid leak can make driving unsafe. Call to arrange the appropriate transport.

Dual clutch and CVT

The X55’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a CVT-equipped X35 require different fluid and diagnostic procedures. We check the unit identification and the conditions that trigger the complaint before proposing servicing, clutch or control work, or internal repair.

A software update or adaptation is only an option when the vehicle supports it, the procedure is appropriate and the required access is available. It is not a promised cure for worn parts.

Conventional automatic

Where fitted, separate an external leak or repairable component fault from internal wear. Compare the component repair, rebuild and replacement totals, including removal, refitting, fluid, required setup and checks. Ask how parts supply affects the completion estimate.

BJ series four wheel drive

A vibration, clunk or 4WD warning may require checks beyond the transmission. Transfer-case operation, shafts, joints, differential leaks and tire matching matter on the relevant configuration. Tell us about an impact or modification instead of assuming the gearbox has failed.

After off-road use: Report impacts or water exposure. The inspection can cover damaged boots, leaks, underbody damage, loose protection, tire condition and restricted radiator airflow. Cleaning, maintenance and any damaged parts are quoted as separate work.

Our transmission repair guide explains the main repair and replacement choices.

Gearbox fluid service

A conventional automatic drain and refill is estimated at AED 370–840. CVT or wet DCT fluid service is AED 525–1,260. Where a pan or filter kit is required, an automatic fluid-and-kit service is typically AED 945–1,890. These planning ranges include 5% VAT, the specified fluid and stated labor; gearbox identification and kit access determine the exact total.

The quote names the fluid specification and quantity, any filter or pan kit, the level-setting procedure and applicable checks. Fluid service does not repair slipping or internal damage. Compare the gearbox oil service methods and inclusions.

Noise, vibration and stopping

BAIC brake, suspension and tire repairs

A knock over bumps and a vibration under braking can feel similar from the driver’s seat. Inspect the affected components before buying a bundle of parts.

Brake disc and caliper exposed with the wheel removed
Brake disc and caliper reference. The fitted parts must match your BAIC’s brake specification.

Brakes that squeal or shake

Check pad wear, disc condition and dimensions, caliper movement and any warning light. New pads can be suitable when the discs remain serviceable; worn or damaged discs may need replacement with a matching pad set.

Grinding, a sinking pedal or reduced braking needs prompt attention. Ask about transport if stopping feels unsafe. For an ABS warning, test the sensor and circuit before authorizing a module or hub replacement.

Compare the per-axle scope in our brake repair and replacement guide.

Knocks, wandering or uneven tires

The inspection may include bushes, links, arms, joints, dampers, wheel bearings and steering components. On a BJ40 used off-road, describe the impact or terrain and disclose any suspension changes so the checks match the vehicle.

Alignment helps once worn or damaged components have been addressed. It cannot tighten a loose joint or restore a failed shock absorber. When replacing dampers, discuss a matching axle pair and whether mounts or springs need separate work.

See suspension repair options for the difference between a small component job and a larger replacement.

Uneven tire wear or a TPMS warning?

Check pressure against the vehicle label, tire size and ratings, tread condition and the affected sensor before replacing parts. A TPMS warning is not automatically a failed sensor. Tire fitting and TPMS checks are quoted for the actual wheel and tire specification.

Four-wheel alignment is estimated at AED 200–350 including VAT for the stated measurements and permitted adjustments. Repairs, seized adjusters and additional calibration are separate. Correct worn components before alignment; balancing addresses a different cause of vibration.

Servicing and electrical repairs

A service reminder and a car that won’t start need different attention. Bring the history you have. We’ll help identify what’s due and what needs testing.

Routine maintenance

Service the items actually due

Your engine, model year and market determine the schedule. The service book and recent invoices help us avoid repeating work you’ve already paid for.

  • The correct oil and filterConfirm the oil approval, quantity and filter. No single specification or interval suits every BAIC.
  • More than an oil changeCheck which filters, spark plugs and fluids are actually due. An oil service doesn’t include every maintenance item.
  • Your driving conditionsDiscuss dust, short journeys and off-road use against the applicable maintenance guidance.

An oil service covers the agreed oil and filter. A minor service adds a broader inspection; a major service adds the replacements due by age or mileage. See minor and major service inclusions.

Electrical diagnosis

Starting trouble or several warnings

A weak 12V supply can complicate diagnosis. A new battery won’t fix a separate charging fault or an unwanted current draw.

  • Battery and charging checksTest the 12V supply and charging system. If the battery repeatedly goes flat, investigate the drain.
  • A replacement that fitsMatch the size, terminals, capacity and battery technology. Start-stop applications may fall outside the standard battery range below.
  • Cameras, sensors and keysTell us what stopped working and when. Scan coverage, programming and calibration are different capabilities that we confirm for your car.

We explain which scan, programming or calibration procedure your car needs and whether it can be completed here. Restricted manufacturer functions may require the authorized network.

Minor and major service cost guides

Minor service planning guide
AED 399–699Oil, oil filter, routine inspection and labor. Additional filters, fluids and repairs are separate.
Major service planning guide
AED 649–1,049Oil/filter, applicable engine and cabin filters, due spark plugs and inspection. The quote names the actual replacements; gearbox oil, coolant and brake fluid are not automatically included.

Minor and major figures are general vehicle market estimates including 5% VAT, not fixed BAIC packages. Your engine, due items and parts availability determine the quote. Use the maintenance schedule supplied with your car; BAIC regional manuals are useful only when the model, year and equipment match.

Compare the parts before you decide

Ask for the fitted total, availability and written warranty terms.

Genuine BAIC parts

Confirm the exact part number. A BAIC-branded component may be appropriate where fitment, electronics or limited alternatives make it important.

Named aftermarket parts

A suitable quality option can reduce the cost of wear items. Ask for the brand and fitment. An “OEM” label alone does not establish the part’s origin.

Used engines and gearboxes

Compare compatibility, condition evidence, included accessories and warranty with repairing your own unit. Confirm the fitted total and return terms before ordering.

Three ways a quote can differ

Typical BAIC repair estimates

Before you decide

Questions from BAIC owners

Clear answers about the checks, cost and practical details of bringing your car in.

How much will my BAIC repair cost?

An oil and filter service is estimated at AED 200–600. Standard brake pads are AED 250–500 per axle, fitted. A targeted gearbox component repair is AED 1,500–4,500, while head gasket work is AED 2,900–7,800. These guide ranges include 5% VAT. Share your model and complaint for the applicable checks and a vehicle-specific total.

Is the inspection free?

The initial visual assessment is free. Agreed computer scanning and targeted diagnosis cost AED 150–350 including 5% VAT. We explain the findings and next step. Extended testing, dismantling, programming and repairs require a separately agreed price. Your quote lists the diagnosis fee and any agreed repair credit so you can see the complete bill.

Can you check an X55 that shudders when pulling away?

Yes, contact us to arrange an assessment. Tell us whether the judder happens cold, in slow traffic, in reverse or while accelerating. On an X55 with a dual-clutch transmission, the clutch and gearbox controls are relevant, but an engine misfire or worn mount can feel similar. The inspection should separate these causes before parts are ordered.

Do all BAIC models need the same gearbox oil?

No. A CVT, dual-clutch transmission and conventional automatic can require different fluids and procedures. Model year and gearbox identification matter. A generic transmission flush should not be sold as a cure for slipping, loss of drive or an internal mechanical fault.

Can I bring a BJ40 with modified suspension?

Yes, tell us about the lift kit, wheel size, spacers and any off-road impact when arranging the inspection. We check the fitted components and explain the repair options and compatible parts. A repair assessment does not certify or approve a modification.

Will independent servicing affect my BAIC warranty?

If your car has an active manufacturer warranty, prepaid service plan or an unresolved recall, check the terms with BAIC’s authorized UAE network before approving paid work. We are an independent workshop and cannot approve manufacturer warranty claims or promise that a particular repair preserves coverage.

Are BAIC spare parts available locally?

Availability depends on the VIN, part number and supplier. Routine items may have several suitable options; trim pieces, electronic modules and drivetrain assemblies can need ordering. We confirm the proposed parts brand, expected delivery and warranty terms before you approve the repair. We do not promise immediate stock for every BAIC model.

Can you update the software or repair a hybrid battery?

Send the model, year and warning or requested function. We identify the relevant system and explain the available route. A diagnostic scan is different from manufacturer software access, key programming, driver-assistance calibration or battery repair. BJ30 hybrid, BJ60 48V and imported electric systems require their own procedures; restricted work may need the authorized network.

How long will the work take?

A straightforward oil and filter service typically needs around 45–60 minutes once the car is in the bay. Routine alignment often takes around an hour; an uncomplicated AC recharge takes around 30–60 minutes after diagnosis. A fault investigation or engine/gearbox repair takes longer. We confirm the appointment and discuss parts lead time separately from workshop time.

Can you arrange pickup if the car is unsafe to drive?

Yes, call 050 608 7150 with the location, model and problem. Straightforward local recovery within Dubai is estimated at AED 120–250 including VAT. The confirmed total depends on access, distance and equipment. Tell us about a locked wheel, parking restriction or low basement. Routine pickup and return have separate arrangements and any charge is confirmed first.

What does a BAIC minor or major service include?

An oil service covers the specified oil and oil filter. Minor service adds a routine inspection. Major service adds the filters, spark plugs and other replacements actually due for the model, mileage and service history. The estimate names those items; every fluid, AC recharge and fault repair is not automatically included.

Can I drive with a warning light or overheating?

A warning needs to be identified before advice can be specific. For an oil-pressure warning, severe overheating, reduced braking, heavy grinding or loss of drive, stop safely and call for recovery advice. Do not continue driving to reach the workshop. A photograph of the warning helps when it is safe to take one.

Where is the workshop and when is it open?

My Car Repair Dubai is operated by AMF AUTO SERVICES LLC at 39, Al Quoz Industrial Area 4, Dubai. Workshop hours are Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–10:00 PM, and Saturday, 5:00 AM–6:00 PM. Sunday is closed. Call 050 608 7150 to arrange the visit or use the directions link above.

What warranty comes with a BAIC repair?

Coverage depends on the repair and the parts supplied. The written estimate and invoice should identify the applicable time or mileage limit, exclusions and whether parts, labor or both are covered. Ask for these terms before approving work. Manufacturer warranty claims follow BAIC’s own terms and authorized process.
