Shaking or losing power
Check how the engine runs, recorded faults, intake and boost leaks, ignition and fuel delivery. A confirmed hose, connection or ignition fault needs a different repair from internal engine damage.
Borgward BX5 and BX7 servicing, diagnostics and repairs at our independent workshop in Al Quoz, Dubai. We investigate the fault, explain suitable parts choices and provide a written estimate before you approve the repair.
Accessible visual checks are free. Scanning and initial targeted diagnosis: AED 150–350 including VAT. Further work is quoted separately.

Estimated total with suitable oil up to 5 liters, filter, labor and 5% VAT. Extra oil or a higher-cost specification changes the quote.
Hesitation, a new noise or a warning light gives us a starting point. We assess the affected system and explain what the findings mean for the repair and its cost. You do not need to identify the failed part.
A warning photo or earlier estimate can help, if you have one. A fault code directs testing. It does not prove that a particular part needs replacing.
Check how the engine runs, recorded faults, intake and boost leaks, ignition and fuel delivery. A confirmed hose, connection or ignition fault needs a different repair from internal engine damage.
Assess engine behavior, mounts, gearbox controls and the specified fluid checks. We explain whether the findings support a targeted repair or require internal inspection.
AC cooling and engine overheating are separate problems. Pressure, temperature, leak and fan checks help identify the affected circuit before a recharge or replacement part is proposed.
Inspect the affected brakes, wheel bearings, steering and suspension. The recommendation should name the worn part and quantity, rather than defaulting to a full set of replacements.
All amounts are estimates including 5% VAT, using our general service prices and comparable workshop work. Borgward parts supply can change the total. Your written quote identifies the fitted parts, quantities, labor and any additional testing before approval.
| Service or repair | Estimate including VAT | Included work and important limits |
|---|---|---|
| Oil and filter service | AED 200–350 | Suitable specified oil up to 5 liters, replacement filter, routine labor, level and leak checks. A larger oil quantity or higher-cost approval typically brings the service to AED 350–600. We select the oil for your engine. |
| Initial fault diagnosis | AED 150–350 | Computer scan and the agreed first diagnostic checks. Allow roughly 30–60 minutes for this initial session. Extended testing, dismantling and repairs cost extra only when agreed. The initial visual assessment is free. |
| Standard brake pads | AED 250–500 per axle | One compatible new quality aftermarket pad set and fitting on the front or rear axle. Discs, separate sensors and additional damaged hardware are extra. |
| Pads and discs together | AED 650–2,500 per axle | One axle set of new quality aftermarket pads and two matching discs, ordinary fitting and final checks. Separate sensors, damaged calipers and extra hardware are outside this estimate. |
| Conventional 12V battery | AED 300–750 | New correctly rated battery and basic workshop fitting. Only for cars specified for this battery type. AGM or premium applications generally AED 750–1,600+. Call-out, setup and extra diagnosis are separate. |
| Bushing or anti roll bar link | AED 150–600 | A straightforward individual component replacement with fitting. Pressed bushings, a complete arm or several worn parts need a different estimate. |
| R134a AC service and recharge | AED 262.50–367.50 | Estimated R134a recharge with the correct measured quantity, routine evacuation and cooling checks after the system is assessed. Leak repair, component replacement and R1234yf refrigerant are extra. The vehicle label determines the refrigerant. |
These general workshop budgets help put a major quote in context. Borgward parts compatibility and supply must be confirmed. A repairable component, a rebuild and a replacement assembly are different jobs.
Have a second estimate? We can compare the proposed repair, part condition and complete fitted total. This helps you see whether a lower price covers the same work, testing and necessary fluids.
The original Gulf BX5 has a 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The Gulf BX7 was launched with a 2.0-liter turbo and six-speed automatic. Imports, later versions and trim levels can differ. We check the fitted equipment when selecting service items and repairs.
BX7 TS, BX6, older models and imported Borgwards can need different parts. Contact us with the model and concern. We may request the VIN or a part photo afterward. Borgward’s Gulf launch specifications describe the original regional versions.

Buying a used BX5 or BX7? Arrange a pre-purchase inspection. Budget AED 350–650 including VAT for an agreed condition assessment, accessible mechanical and body checks, scan, permitted road test and written findings. Dismantling and a guarantee of hidden-fault detection are excluded. Repair costs and parts availability can help you judge the asking price.
For a Borgward, finding the right part can matter as much as the repair itself. We compare suitable supply options, compatibility and the complete installed cost before you commit to an order or major dismantling.
We check suitable available options and explain the part’s brand, condition and warranty status. A supplier’s description of “OEM quality” is not enough to establish who made the item or whether it matches your car.
Your parts quote should be clear. We identify the part, its condition, the fitted total, expected supply time, required coding and applicable warranty. Any deposit or cancellation terms are explained before ordering. Availability is checked for the individual item. A model listing does not guarantee stock.
Genuine Borgward-branded parts, identified original-equipment supplier parts and reputable aftermarket parts are different options. Availability and suitability vary by component. Compare the identified product and full installed price.
Keeping the original unit can be practical when its housing is sound and the failed internal parts are obtainable. The estimate names what will be renewed and how the unit will be checked. Extensive damage or unavailable repair parts may make replacement the better choice.
A used or remanufactured assembly is considered only when a compatible, suitable unit can be verified. Engine or gearbox code, condition, supplier history, setup and warranty matter. A cheaper unit that cannot communicate with the car is not a saving.
A rough engine can feel like a gearbox problem. Low power can come from more than the turbo. We use the complaint and test findings to decide which system needs attention, then discuss the repair that fits those findings.

You receive an explanation of the findings, the proposed work and the next cost. Available scan functions depend on the vehicle. Factory software updates, security access and replacement-module programming are checked separately before that work is accepted.
For hesitation or uneven idle, examine relevant scan data, ignition, air and fuel supply, and intake or boost leaks. Noise, smoke or oil use may need further tests. Replacing a turbo without identifying an oil supply or intake problem can leave the cause unresolved.
For delayed engagement or harsh shifts, identify the transmission, inspect leaks and assess fluid using the correct procedure. Electrical controls and engine or transmission mounts also matter. An oil service cannot repair worn internal parts. Compare gearbox repair and rebuild options.
Coolant pressure, compression, leakage or internal inspection may be needed when findings point to mechanical damage. A complete engine rebuild has a general workshop budget of AED 14,500–39,000 including VAT. Borgward-specific parts and work require an individual quote. Compare a defined repair, rebuild and compatible replacement through our engine repair guide.
Tell us whether the problem changes in traffic, after parking or after a recent repair. Small details can prevent the wrong first recommendation.
We assess vent temperature, airflow, relevant pressures, fan operation and leaks according to the complaint. Weak airflow may involve a filter or blower. Air that flows well but stays warm needs a different investigation.
For an ordinary R134a system, allow AED 2,200–4,200 including VAT as an estimated compressor replacement package: a compatible quality aftermarket compressor, routine fitting, seals, oil, receiver-dryer work where required, recharge and final performance checks. This is a general planning range. Borgward part supply or a premium part can raise the total.
Contamination can add flushing, condenser or other component work. R1234yf refrigerant and unusual access are priced separately. A recharge alone cannot fix a failed compressor or an unrepaired leak. Compare the work in our AC repair and recharge guide.
Inspect the leak and test the engine-cooling system as appropriate. A hose, radiator, thermostat housing or water pump fault does not automatically require a head gasket. Overheating or test evidence of internal leakage changes the next checks.
For a straightforward cooling-system repair, estimated fitted totals are AED 400–900 for a thermostat or housing and AED 650–1,900 for a water pump, including VAT, ordinary labor, required seals, coolant refill and checks. Complex access, related damage or hard-to-source assemblies increase the quote.
Test the 12V battery, terminals, grounds, starter circuit and charging system as needed. If the engine cranks normally but will not fire, the investigation moves beyond simply replacing the battery.
A battery that goes flat again may need a parked-current investigation. Match the replacement technology, physical fit and electrical rating, including start-stop requirements if fitted. See our battery replacement guide.
Check power, connections and recorded faults before ordering a camera, parking sensor or control module. Tell us about water exposure, a jump-start or a recently fitted accessory. Coding, calibration and online software availability must be confirmed for the exact task.
An oil change, a minor service and a major service cover different work. We use the maintenance schedule and any available history to identify due items, avoiding replacements you have already paid for.
An oil visit includes the selected lubricant and filter, replacement labor, and checks for the correct level and leaks. Spark plugs, air and cabin filters, coolant, brake fluid and transmission fluid are separate items when due. The oil and filter guide explains what the quoted service includes.
The correct interval comes from the schedule for your engine, year and market. Time matters as well as mileage. We can review the due work without applying one service interval to every BX5 or BX7.

Estimated package totals include ordinary labor and 5% VAT. These are planning allowances, with the exact parts and oil requirement listed on your quote.
Working times exclude the booking queue, parts delivery and additional repairs. See the full servicing guide for wider package details.
For a suitable serviceable unit, budget AED 400–900 for an agreed fluid drain and refill, or AED 650–1,200 with a serviceable filter and required pan seal, including labor and VAT. Fluid approval, quantity and filter access decide the total. The correct level procedure and leak checks are included. A machine flush, internal repairs, transfer-case oil and differential oil are separate. A fluid service is not a cure for slipping or internal damage.
Measure pad and disc condition, inspect caliper operation and investigate the actual noise. A wheel bearing, uneven tire wear or an ABS sensor fault needs different work from a pad replacement. A rear brake quote should allow for the parking-brake procedure required by your car.
Do not assume an estimate covers all four wheels. Our early prices specify one axle. Compare brake repair inclusions and ask what would make discs or extra hardware necessary.
Play or noise needs to be located at the worn bush, link, joint, mount or damper. The general installed allowance is AED 400–1,500 including VAT for one affected control arm or joint. For two conventional shocks or struts on the same axle, allow AED 1,000–3,200, including ordinary fitting and standard alignment where required.
Additional mounts, springs and work on seized fasteners are quoted separately. A steering pull also calls for a tire inspection. We check the cause and Borgward part compatibility before recommending replacements. Read the suspension repair guide for the available work.
For vibration or uneven wear, we also check tire condition and pressures before recommending wheel alignment. A persistent pressure warning needs the tire and TPMS sensor checked. Simply clearing the warning is not a repair.
These three estimates show defined work and a total including parts, labor and 5% VAT. They illustrate possible jobs, not completed customer repairs or fixed offers. Actual condition and parts availability determine your quotation.
AED 350
Suitable engine oil up to 5 liters, a replacement oil filter, required drain seal, ordinary labor and level/leak checks. This scenario assumes the specified oil and compatible filter are available within the allowance. Additional fluids and scheduled parts are excluded.
AED 450
One new quality aftermarket front-axle pad set, routine fitting and brake checks. The estimate assumes both front discs remain serviceable and the calipers operate correctly. Disc replacement, a separate wear sensor and caliper repairs would add to the total.
AED 650
Correct specified fluid for the agreed drain-and-refill quantity, required drain seal, ordinary labor and final level/leak checks on the fitted six-speed automatic. A filter requiring internal access, machine flushing, separate drivetrain fluids and repairs to an existing fault are excluded.

Costs, parts, software support and practical arrangements for your BX5 or BX7.
Yes. Contact us for BX5 or BX7 routine servicing, mechanical repair or electrical fault diagnosis. Tell us whether you drive a BX5 or BX7 and describe the concern in your own words. We handle the equipment and parts checks and request further details only when needed.
Allow AED 200–350 including VAT for suitable oil up to 5 liters, the oil filter, routine labor and final checks. Higher-capacity or higher-cost oil applications typically need AED 350–600. The estimate is matched to the fitted engine and the specified oil.
A minor-service estimate of AED 400–700 includes oil, an oil filter and accessible maintenance checks. The AED 650–1,050 major-service allowance adds the listed air and cabin filters and four suitable spark plugs when due. Both include ordinary labor and VAT. Premium parts, extra fluids and repairs are itemized separately.
The first visual assessment of accessible areas is free. Computer scanning and agreed initial diagnostic checks are estimated at AED 150–350 including VAT. Extended testing or dismantling is explained and priced before it starts. Repairs have their own estimate.
Parts availability varies by component. We check matching part numbers and suitable supplier options for your car, then explain the cost and expected delivery. Routine filters, a body panel and an electronic module can have very different lead times. Any deposit, cancellation terms and warranty are explained before an order.
A warning needs investigation before that decision. Voltage, wiring, control faults, leaks and internal wear can cause different symptoms. A confirmed repairable component may allow a smaller repair. Extensive internal damage can call for a rebuild or compatible replacement. Stop driving if the car loses drive or instructs you to stop.
A suitable drain and refill is estimated at AED 400–900 including labor and VAT. With an accessible serviceable filter and required seal, allow AED 650–1,200. The amount and approval of the fluid depend on the fitted gearbox. Flushing, internal repairs and separate all-wheel-drive fluids are outside these estimates.
Programming is checked for the specific module and car. Compatible hardware alone does not establish that the required factory software or security access is available. We review the job before accepting programming or ordering an electronic replacement, and explain the available options.
Use the time and mileage limits in the maintenance schedule for the vehicle’s year, engine and original market. Existing invoices can help identify what has already been changed. We review due items and current condition instead of replacing the manufacturer’s schedule with a universal mileage interval.
With suitable parts ready, allow roughly 45–90 minutes for oil and filter work, 1–2 hours for a minor service and 2–4 hours for the listed major-service work. These are working-time estimates. Booking queues, extra repairs and parts delivery add time. Major engine or gearbox repairs need a schedule after diagnosis.
Warranty terms depend on the agreed repair and supplied parts. The written terms should identify duration, covered items, exclusions and the claim process before approval. An independent-workshop repair warranty is separate from an existing manufacturer, dealer or service-plan agreement.

A pre-purchase inspection is estimated at AED 350–650 including VAT for the agreed accessible condition checks, scan, permitted road test and findings. It can identify concerns to investigate or price before purchase. It does not include dismantling or guarantee that every concealed or intermittent fault will be found.
The BXi7 is electric, so the gasoline-engine oil, turbo and conventional automatic work described here does not apply. Contact us about the work needed. We will establish which inspection or repair support is available. High-voltage work requires the appropriate equipment and qualified personnel.
Tell us your Borgward model and what needs attention. We can arrange a visit, investigate the concern and explain a repair estimate with suitable parts options.
The accessible visual assessment costs nothing. Initial scanning and targeted checks are estimated at AED 150–350 including VAT. We explain any additional diagnostic or repair charge before proceeding.
