Service and repair for your MG model

The work starts with the MG you drive and what it needs. A petrol MG5, a larger RX8 and an MG4 EV share routine vehicle-care needs, but their engine, transmission and electrical work differ.

Everyday cars
MG3 · MG5 · MG6 · GT · MG7Oil service, brakes, tyres, AC and electrical repairs for daily use. Petrol engines and gearboxes vary across years and markets. A driving hesitation needs assessment of the engine and transmission rather than an automatic gearbox replacement.
SUVs and crossovers
ZS · HS · ONE · RX5 · RX8 · RX9Maintenance, turbo-engine work, suspension, transmission and body repairs. On an AWD or 4WD version, axle and transfer components need their own attention. A gearbox service does not automatically cover them.
Hybrid, electric and older MGs
HS Hybrid+ · MG8 PHEV · MG4 · ZS EV · CybersterBrake, tyre, cabin and bodywork enquiries remain relevant. Hybrid and electric drive faults need an appropriate specialist plan. We also welcome enquiries for MG360, GS and older cars such as MGB, where parts and procedures differ.

MG service costs and what they cover

Compare the work as well as the amount. These published general workshop estimates provide a starting budget for common jobs. The quote for your MG identifies the parts, quantities and any additional repair.

WorkEstimated costIncluded in the estimate
Engine oil and filterAED 200–600Agreed oil, replacement oil filter and fitting for many common fills up to 8 litres. Extra capacity or specialist products can cost more. Not an EV service.
Standard brake padsAED 250–500
per axle
Quality replacement pad set and fitting on the two front or two rear wheels. Discs, separate sensors and extra hardware are additional.
Brake pads and discsAED 650–2,500
per axle
Two replacement discs, one pad set and fitting. Brake size, genuine parts and associated repairs change the total.
Brake fluid serviceAED 150–350
per vehicle
Specified fluid replacement and bleeding. Hydraulic faults and additional repair procedures are quoted separately.
Scanning and fault diagnosisAED 150–350Agreed computer scanning and targeted checks. Extended investigation, dismantling and repair costs are separate.

Figures include 5% VAT and the stated work. They are general estimates, not fixed prices for every MG. The initial visual assessment is free. We agree any diagnostic charge first and quote major engine, transmission, AC or collision work after assessment.

Call with your model and the service or problem. We can discuss the next visit and the work to include in your estimate.

Choose servicing for petrol, hybrid or electric

MG’s range now includes several powertrains. Select the one you own to see how the maintenance changes. You can contact us with the model alone if you are unsure.

Select your MG powertrain

What a petrol MG service includes

An oil change is one part of servicing. We use the schedule for the fitted engine and review previous work so due items are included without automatically repeating recent replacements.

Oil and filtration
Select the required engine-oil specification and correct filter. Check visible leakage and the drain fittings as part of the agreed service.
Filters and ignition
Assess air and cabin filters. Spark plugs and other scheduled replacements follow the model requirements rather than one mileage package for every MG.
Fluids and cooling
Review coolant, brake fluid and relevant transmission service requirements. Low fluid can require investigation rather than repeated topping up.
Running gear
Inspect tyres, brakes, visible suspension condition and the battery. Report wear or faults separately from the scheduled maintenance.

Maintenance for hybrid and plug-in MGs

Hybrid MGs still have an engine as well as an electric drive system. Their service must cover both the ordinary vehicle requirements and the specified hybrid procedures.

Engine maintenance
Oil, filters and due engine-service items remain relevant. A hybrid badge does not remove the petrol engine’s time and mileage requirements.
Brakes and tyres
Inspect friction brakes even when regenerative braking is used. Tyres, steering and suspension still need assessment for wear and damage.
Cooling and electrical
Low-voltage and high-voltage systems are different. Cooling circuits and specified procedures depend on the model and must not be treated as one generic flush.
Charging or drive warnings
Describe the warning or charging complaint when contacting us. High-voltage testing and repair are discussed with the appropriate specialist support.

What changes when your MG is electric

An MG4, ZS EV or Cyberster does not need a petrol-engine oil service. Maintenance focuses on the fitted electric vehicle systems alongside the brakes, tyres, cabin and body.

No engine oil package
Choose an EV maintenance enquiry rather than the oil price above. The required inspections and fluid procedures follow the vehicle’s schedule.
Brakes and suspension
Inspect pads, discs, hydraulic brakes, tyres and running gear. Regenerative braking does not establish that the friction brakes are in good condition.
Cabin and low-voltage battery
Cabin filters, AC operation and the low-voltage battery can need attention. A car that will not become ready is not proof that its traction battery has failed.
High-voltage or charging faults
Battery-pack, drive-motor and charging repairs need the correct specialist plan. We discuss support for the reported fault without promising every high-voltage procedure.
Gloved technician checking engine oil with a dipstick
Technician inspecting friction brakes, which also need inspection on electric vehicles

Use your MG’s service book and the applicable time limit as well as mileage. Records help establish what is due. A service reminder is reset after the relevant work, while a fault warning needs its own investigation.

Gearbox service and repair are different jobs

A scheduled fluid service maintains the gearbox. Judder, a warning or loss of drive requires an assessment before choosing fluid replacement, a component repair or a larger overhaul.

Fitted transmissionMaintenanceWhen driving changes
CVTCorrect CVT fluid, fill procedure and applicable filter work. MG ONE uses a CVT, while other models depend on version.Investigate judder, noise or delayed drive. Check related engine and control faults before attributing everything to the gearbox.
Dual-clutch gearboxIdentify the actual unit and its service requirements. Some HS and other MG versions have a DCT.Clutch, actuator, control and internal faults require different repairs. A reset alone is not a promised cure.
Conventional automaticUse the specified fluid and procedure. Some newer 2.0T HS versions use a nine-speed automatic, unlike the 1.5T DCT.Assess harsh shifts, leaks or engagement delays. Compare the complete repair with a compatible replacement where appropriate.
Manual gearboxGear oil and clutch hydraulics are separate service items.Clutch slip, pedal trouble and gear-selection difficulty can involve different components. Quote clutch and internal gearbox work separately.

Compare complete repair totals

An overhaul and a replacement assembly should be compared with removal, fitting, seals, fluids and testing included. The replacement unit’s condition and warranty terms also matter.

Include the rest of the driveline

On an AWD or 4WD RX5, RX8 or RX9 version, differentials, transfer components and drive shafts need separate maintenance or repair. Hybrid and EV drive systems require their own procedures.

MG AC repairs for weak or warm airflow

Tell us whether the airflow is weak, the air stays warm or cooling changes while stationary. Those observations help distinguish a cabin-airflow problem from refrigeration or control work.

Recharge, repair or both

The estimate separates testing, refrigerant service and the failed component. A recharge cannot repair an ongoing leak.

We match the refrigerant and quantity to the fitted system. Hybrid and electric AC procedures also need the appropriate equipment and electrical precautions.

Weak airflow
Inspect the cabin filter, blower and air distribution. More refrigerant will not correct a blocked filter or a blower fault.
Air blows warm
Assess leakage, compressor operation and system controls. The repair may involve a hose, condenser, compressor or another confirmed component.
Cooling changes at idle
Check operating pressures, fan operation and condenser airflow as relevant. Describe whether the symptom appears in traffic or continues while driving.
Smell or water in the cabin
Investigate filters, drainage and water entry. Cleaning, drain work and leakage repairs are different from refrigerant replacement.

Engine repairs for leaks, overheating or hesitation

An engine warning does not automatically mean an engine rebuild. We distinguish a repair to an external component from damage that needs dismantling or replacement, then explain the options.

Rough running or loss of power
Assess ignition, fuel delivery, air leaks and engine information. On turbo versions, boost hoses, controls and the turbo system may be relevant. A code identifies a test direction rather than proving a part has failed.
Oil leakage or falling level
Locate the leak and consider oil consumption when appropriate. A gasket or seal repair differs from internal wear. Keep the correct oil level and mention how often you have needed to add oil.
Overheating or coolant loss
Check leakage, radiator and hose condition, cooling fans, thermostat and circulation as needed. A coolant flush is maintenance and cannot cure a failed cooling component.

Stop safely for serious overheating or an oil-pressure warning. Switch off and call for advice. Do not open a hot cooling system or continue driving to see whether the warning clears.

Brake repairs and suspension work for your MG

Brake wear, a steering shake and a knock over bumps can require different work. An inspection helps choose the right repair without automatically replacing a complete brake or suspension set.

Keep serviceable parts

New pads may be sufficient when discs meet their thickness and condition limits. Worn-out or damaged discs need the appropriate replacement. Uneven pad wear calls for checking caliper operation too.

Include required fitting procedures

The quote names the axle, parts and any additional hardware. Rear brake work may need an electronic parking-brake procedure. ABS warnings and hydraulic faults are separate repair enquiries.

On hybrid and electric MGs, inspect the friction brakes even when regenerative braking is working.

Technician inspecting a wheel brake and suspension assembly

Knocks over bumps

Inspect bushes, joints, dampers and mounts. Replace damaged components rather than treating every noise as a need for new shock absorbers.

Vibration or uneven tyres

Assess tyre condition, wheels, balance and mechanical play. Alignment follows required repairs and the vehicle specification.

Unsafe braking or steering

A sinking pedal, reduced braking or serious steering difficulty needs stopping safely and suitable recovery. Call before driving to the workshop.

Battery, electrical and dashboard warning repairs

A low-voltage supply problem can affect several systems at once. We assess the reported complaint and power supply before recommending a battery, control unit or other electrical part.

A flat battery or slow start
Test the battery and charging system, with drain investigation when needed. Battery size, terminals and specification must match the car. Repeated replacement may leave the original cause unresolved.
A warning that keeps returning
Read the relevant system information and investigate the fault. Clearing a message is not the same as repairing it. A warning photograph is helpful if the issue disappears before your visit.
Windows, lights or cabin controls
Check the circuit, connections and affected component. A switch, motor, regulator or wiring repair can involve different work from replacing the entire assembly.
Screen, cameras or driver assistance
Separate display and connectivity faults from camera, sensor or calibration work. Software access and procedures depend on the model. Official recalls and manufacturer campaigns belong with the authorised network.

Body repairs, glass and care for your MG

Cosmetic damage and collision damage need different estimates. Share a photograph for an initial discussion, then arrange assessment to establish the repair area and any related work.

Dents and paint
Paintless dent repair may suit accessible dents with intact paint. Scratches, peeling paint and wider panel damage may need preparation, refinishing or panel replacement. The quote identifies the repair area and any adjacent paint blending.
Collision and glass
Inspect related supports, structure and safety equipment as well as visible panels. Match replacement glass and fittings. Windscreen cameras or other sensors may require calibration after repair. Bring relevant accident documents and insurer instructions where applicable.
Interior and protection
Discuss upholstery and trim repair, detailing, polishing, ceramic coating or paint protection around the current condition. Deep scratches may need paint repair before finishing work. Wheels, rim repairs and modifications can be discussed with suitability and any required approvals established first.

Insurance acceptance and coverage depend on the insurer and policy. We discuss the repair estimate without promising an insurance outcome. Flood or underbody damage to an electric vehicle also needs an appropriate safety assessment before ordinary cosmetic work.

MG parts options and your repair quote

The lowest headline price can leave out work that another estimate includes. Compare the part being supplied, its condition, fitting work and terms before choosing.

Genuine or suitable replacement parts

Genuine MG parts and compatible alternatives can have different prices and availability. We identify the quoted option rather than describing every part as genuine.

Model year, engine, equipment and market specification affect fitment. Extra identification is requested when needed to order the correct part.

Repaired or replacement assemblies

For an engine or transmission, ask whether the unit is new, used, rebuilt or repaired. Its condition, included components and testing should be clear. A cheaper unit without fitting or fluids is not a complete installed price.

Your estimate should show

  • The service or fault being addressed.
  • Parts descriptions, quantities and condition.
  • Labour, fluids and related procedures.
  • Additional work requiring your approval.
  • Expected parts availability and timing.
  • Applicable parts and workmanship warranty terms.

We explain the work before repairs begin. Further damage found during dismantling is discussed before additional repairs proceed.

Questions about MG servicing and repairs

Answers about cost, gearboxes, maintenance and arranging the work.

Is this an authorised MG service centre?

My Car Repair Dubai is an independent multi-brand workshop operated by AMF AUTO SERVICES LLC. Manufacturer warranty claims, recalls and official campaigns should be discussed with the authorised MG network. Check your warranty book and dealer requirements when planning independent work.

How much does MG servicing cost in Dubai?

The general oil and filter guide is AED 200–600 for the stated work. A fuller petrol service costs more when other due items are included. Hybrid and electric maintenance has different requirements, so the engine-oil price is not an EV service package.

Does every MG have the same gearbox?

No. CVT, dual-clutch, conventional automatic and manual transmissions appear across different models and versions. MG ONE uses a CVT. Some HS versions use a DCT, while other HS configurations use a conventional automatic. We identify the fitted unit for the service or repair.

Can a gearbox oil change cure judder?

It cannot be promised as a cure. Judder can involve the gearbox, engine or related controls. A scheduled fluid service and repair of a driving fault are different jobs.

Can you help with an electric or hybrid MG?

Contact us for the requested work. Ordinary brakes, tyres, cabin and bodywork differ from traction-battery, charging and high-voltage repairs. We discuss the appropriate specialist support for those faults before promising a procedure.

How often should I service my MG?

Follow the schedule for the model, engine and market, including its time limits. Previous service records help establish what is due. There is no single mileage package that suits every petrol, hybrid and electric MG.

Do you offer pickup and a repair warranty?

Pickup and drop-off can be requested by arrangement. Availability and any charge are discussed when booking. Applicable parts and workmanship warranty terms depend on the selected work and are explained with the quote.

Where can I book an MG repair?

Call 050 608 7150 or WhatsApp the team. The workshop is at 39, Al Quoz Industrial Area 4, Dubai. Your model and a short description are enough to start. Call before travelling if the vehicle may be unsafe to drive.
